After two early Owen Farrell penalties put England in the lead, Ireland responded with a well-executed try by Dan Sheehan. However, England's hopes of an upset were dashed when Freddie Steward was sent off just before halftime. Ireland capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Robbie Henshaw and Rob Herring scoring tries on either side of Sheehan's second of the game. This secured Ireland's first Grand Slam in five years and their first in Dublin.

Despite an improved performance from England, who had suffered a humiliating defeat against France the previous week, they were unable to spoil Ireland's big day, and scored a deserved second-half try through Jamie George. Ireland, led by their talismanic captain Johnny Sexton, who played his final Six Nations match and had to leave the game early due to injury, found a way to win, as they have often done under coach Andy Farrell.

The Aviva Stadium was filled with jubilant Irish celebrations as the home side fulfilled their immense promise, having entered the competition as the world's top-ranked team.

    1. Ireland's Grand Slam triumphs have now totaled four, with victories in 1948, 2009, 2018, and 2023. In addition to these wins, they have claimed five Six Nations titles, with the other victories coming in 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2018.
    2. Under the leadership of coach Andy Farrell, the Irish team set a new national record of eight consecutive Six Nations wins, surpassing their previous record of seven consecutive victories set between 2004 and 2005.
    3. Moreover, Ireland is currently on a national record run of 14 consecutive home wins.
